From the Library
Come and check out what’s new. Library times are by appointment only. Please call the Synagogue office 416-221-3433 ext. 0.
Please come in and browse, who knows what gems you might find. If you are interested in the history of the Israeli-Arab conflict in the Middle East, look at “From Time Immemorial” by Joan Peters, which provides an account its origins. Also available, “The History of the Jews in Italy”. Looking for an Italian themed novel? Try “The Secret Book of Grazia dei Rossi”, the story of a feminist young woman, in Medieval Italy, from a very prosperous Jewish family. Although it is fiction, in reading her story we learn about the history of our people at that time, some of which may be quite surprising. The relatively new book “The Family Orchard” by Nomi Eves is the saga of five generations of one family living in Israel from the mid 1850’s to the present, but with a twist that makes it very different from ordinary sagas.
So drop by and if you don’t see what you want, ask for it and we will do whatever we can to help.
