Rabbi Wayne Allen has co-authored one book and edited two others. He has also published numerous scholarly articles for a variety of Jewish periodicals. He has served as president of the Toronto Board of Rabbis and is active in a wide range of community affairs. A dedicated and respected teacher, Rabbi Allen makes time to teach in the Hebrew School and the adult education programme. In 2003 Rabbi Allen was a recipient of a Doctorate of Divinity Honoris Causa bestowed on him by the Jewish Theological Seminary. He also serves as the acting commissioner of the Beth Tikvah Basketball League, and is an avid player. Rabbi Allen has been leading Beth Tikvah for more than 16 years. Rabbi Jarrod Grover is one of the great up-and-coming rabbis in the Canadian Conservative Movement. His accomplishments have already been noted in numerous fellowships and awards including a leadership award he received the the Government of Canada. A native of Montreal, Rabbi Grover graduated from Princeton University and was ordained by the Jewish Theological Seminary in 2009. While a student, he served congregations in Scarsdale and Syracuse NY. Rabbi Grover is Beth Tikvah`s Assistant Rabbi with much of his attention focused on youth and young families. Rabbi Emeritus and Senior Scholar Dr. Avraham Feder, was the founding rabbi of Beth Tikvah and still enjoys enormous support. Originally trained as a Hazzan and a powerful speaker, Rabbi Feder annually leads one division of our High Holiday services. In addition, he makes an annual visit to Beth Tikvah in the Spring to speak on Israel - where he now resides - and on current events.
Hazzan Tibor Kovari Tibor a native of Cluj, Romania, came to Beth Tikvah from the Beth Israel Synagogue in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he served as Cantor, a teacher to members and students, and as youth leader. He has served as acting Rabbi and Cantor for each of the Anna Frank High School in Budapest, The Hungarian Armed Forces and the Pava Street Synagogue. The Romanian Jewish community appointed him its first Cantor and Director of Jewish Education. Hazzan Kovari has a keen interest in music of all kinds, and enjoys singing, having been a member of several youth choirs and a soloist. Tibor continues to sing regularly with the Beth Tikvah Choir. Sigal Tuch Sigal Tuch B.A, B.ED has been our Youth and Young Families Director since January of 2007. Sigal has varied experiences in both the Jewish and general community. She is a long time member of Beth Tikvah where she was a Kadimanik and USY participant as well as BETSY president. Sigal was a teacher with the Toronto Board of Education and remains a member in good standing of the Ontario College of Teachers. She is also a graduate of the Midrasha L’Morim where she received her Jewish Teachers’ Certification. She has been teaching bar and bat mitzvah lessons at Beth Tikvah for over 10 years. Sigal ably leads our Young Families which are a vibrant part of our congregation. They hold monthly Shabbat services, followed by a special Kiddish. She also works with the Festivals Committee in planning Hannukah and Purim events. Sigal can be contacted at sigal@bethtikvah.on.ca
Lillian Cornfield, our Director of Administration has been with the shul for more than 19 years, and oversees all the day-to-day activities of Beth Tikvah. She is responsible for membership recruitment and retention, programming, catering, major events, building maintenance and fundraising. She is also responsible for interfacing with outside organizations on administrative affairs and daily operations and supervises our office and custodial staff. Irving Kirshenblat Irv Kirshenblat is Ritual Director at Beth Tikvah. He is responsible for strengthening our weekday services and serves as Ba`al Koreh during weekday services. Irv assists in our B`nai Mitzvah and Lay Participation Programmes and teaches some of our B`nai Mitzvah.He brings to Beth Tikvah many years of valuable experience in service to the Toronto Jewish community.
